Rev. Jesse Jackson, Jr. to receive

Lifetime Achievement Award for Civil Society

 from the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network at United Nations



New York, NY: Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. will be presented with the first African Renaissance and Diaspora Award for Civil Society from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the United Nations.


Rev. Jackson will be honored for his leadership and historic lifetime achievements as a social leader, a Baptist minister, a politician, a global activist, founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and for his “steadfast and preeminent leadership in public service to create a more peaceful sustainable and equitable world.”


 Djibril Diallo, coordinator of the United Nations Senior Africans group and President and CEO of the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network, said, “We appreciate your commitment in helping to make our common home—our planet earth—one that is more closely aligned with the ideals of the United nations Charter.”


“It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen for this prestigious award,” said Rev. Jackson. “I am committed to helping achieve peace worldwide and to help give hope to the hopeless.”


The award will be given during the Africa: Open for Business Summit at the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.
