Huberman Appointment Challenged at Rainbow PUSH Saturday Morning Forum

"The man who managed busses and trains and the 911 emergency dispatch center is now in charge of managing our children," said Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown referring to the appointment of Ron Huberman as the new CEO of Chicago Public Schools. "This is not personal but it is critical that Illinois has an educated workforce. Huberman is not qualified for this position."

Emergency Preparedness Discussed with Special Guest Lt. Gen. Russell Honore' on Upfront with Jesse Jackson

Lt. Gen. Russell Honore', U.S. Army (retired), who led the Army's respnse to Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, was the special guest this week on Upfront with Jesse Jackson. After dealing with the lack of preparedness for these disasters, Honore' said at his retirement that he wants to spend the rest of this life creating a "culture of preparedness" to prevent another post-disaster disaster. The program focused on what preparedness means and how to achieve it.

With college costs continuing to soar and more college graduates struggling to make their student loan payments, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, is urging lawmakers to extend the benefits of the federal bailout to these young people through adoption of the Rainbow PUSH Education Stimulus Plan.
